It is important to book a marriage commissioner as soon as possible after you have booked the venue of your ceremony, especially if you plan to be married in the popular months, April to October.
Marriage commissioners are legally qualified under the Marriage Act to perform civil marriages in Alberta.
For more information about marriage commissioners, plus a list of their names and contact information, go to any registry agent, whose address can be found using the search function at:

HINT: Try to find a commissioner who is close to your ceremony location as travel costs can be a consideration. Sometimes your contact person at the ceremony location can recommend a commissioner who lives nearby and is familiar with the site. When you hire the commissioner, make sure that the fee and payment arrangements are clear.
